Description:
The CSU is mandated to conduct research, develop argumentation, and produce educational materials for its membership on issues relevant to students and related to academic affairs. Under the supervision of the Academic & Advocacy Coordinator, the Academic Researcher will be responsible for producing reports, surveys, popular education materials and documentation of issues, as well as developing argumentation relevant to the needs of the department to support the CSU’s representation within academic bodies at the University.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Academic & Advocacy Coordinator, this Academic Researcher will:
- Research relevant and important academic topics, write reports and develop argumentation;
- Collaborate in the creations, review, and redaction of policies on academic affairs, both within the CSU and Concordia’s governance structures;
- Communicate with outside organizations and groups to gather relevant information;
- Research and develop educational materials;
- Develop materials to collect data for argumentation;
- Perform other related duties.
Essential Requirements:
- Passionate and well-informed about current political and social issues;
- Analytical and critical thinker;
- Knowledgeable of university governance structures and bodies;
- Outstanding written skills;
- Ability to conduct and produce high-quality research;
- Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, as well as collaboratively;
- Must be authorized to work in Canada (valid SIN card required);
- Must be a full-time undergraduate student at Concordia University;
- Proficient in Microsoft products;
- Must be able to work 20 hours per week.
Assets:
- Bilingual (preferably French)
- Basic knowledge in coding and/or data analysis.
